Looking for a mouthwatering Mexican meal near you, but don’t want to empty your wallet?

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the most excellent sources for affordable Mexican cuisine around Las Vegas, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best places to satisfy your cravings on a budget.

1. Bajamar Seafood & Tacos

Topping the list is Bajamar Seafood & Tacos. Located downtown at 1615 S. Las Vegas Blvd., the restaurant that specializes in tacos and seafood is the highest-rated destination for low-cost Mexican fare in Las Vegas, boasting five stars out of 696 reviews on Yelp.

“Bajamar Seafood and Tacos is more than just home to some of Las Vegas’ finest seafood and tacos. It’s a place where locals and visitors alike come to share a lively atmosphere and authentic sense of community,” touts the business in the history section of its Yelp profile. “We’re known far and wide for our Baja-style flavors, from our award-winning fish tacos and made-to-order ceviche tostadas to our tender octopus or our best-selling spicy octopus taco.”

2. Tacos El Gordo

Next up is downtown’s outpost of the national chain, Tacos El Gordo, situated at 1724 E. Charleston Blvd. With four stars out of 1,845 reviews on Yelp, the taco joint has proven to be a local favorite for those looking for an economical option.

Yelper Ross R., who reviewed Tacos El Gordo on Feb. 5, wrote, “Delicious, fresh tacos. Cheap compared to the strip prices. … We tried these french fries layered with shredded beef, cheese, guacamole and cream. It was delicious.”

Sasha A. added, “This is probably the most authentic Mexican food you’ll find in Vegas. I highly recommend the pastor, lengua, and carne asada tacos.”

3. Serrano’s Mexican Restaurant

Serrano’s Mexican Restaurant, settled at 136 S. Rainbow Blvd., is another prime choice, with Yelpers giving the inexpensive Mexican eatery 4.5 stars out of 250 reviews.

“The prices are very low and the space is a literal hole-in-the-wall, but the food is great,” writes Yelper Hunter W., who reviewed Serrano’s Mexican Restaurant on Feb. 18. “I had a great wet burrito and tacos. The chicharron taco with their salsa verde was particularly special. Not too heavy, and a perfect touch of crunch. The salsa blends in seamlessly with a very tasty hint of heat.”

Yelper Cria S. noted, “Loved the food, and especially the salsas and pickled vegetables. Warm and authentic Mexican restaurant with a simple menu, but delicious. … Good portions, good coffee.”

4. Veganos Kitchen

Last but not least is Veganos Kitchen, a budget-friendly Mexican dining establishment that offers tacos, pizza, burgers and more in Michael Way, with 4.5 stars out of 177 Yelp reviews. Head over to 3149 N. Rancho Road, Unit C, to give it a go for yourself.
